The Building

A schoolhouse reborn as nine bespoke lofts

12 Stirling Avenue — known as Yard & Station — is one of Ottawa's most extraordinary loft conversions. Originally constructed in 1933 as St. François d'Assise Separate School, the building served as an art gallery in the late 1980s before becoming the Odawa Native Friendship Centre in 1996. Re-zoned in 2013 and meticulously reimagined by 2015, it was transformed into just nine completely unique luxury suites — each one a bespoke design extending the full depth of the building, with its own private-access elevator stop, soaring 10–12ft ceilings, and wall-to-wall windows. The heritage red-brick facade, including stone engravings of children reading, remains entirely intact.
