The Building

Ottawa's only LEED Silver loft conversion

345 St Denis Street — known as Le Saint Denis — stands apart from every other loft conversion in Ottawa as the city's only LEED Silver certified schoolhouse conversion, achieved in 2014. Built in 1959 as École Cadieux to serve the French Catholic community of Vanier, the building was purchased in 2007 by The ReDevelopment Group and Gencon Capital, who added a third floor and a new west wing before converting the building into 48 loft-style condominiums in 2009. The project was designed with environmental responsibility at its core — featuring enhanced energy efficiency, superior indoor air quality, a heat pump system, and sustainable building practices. Original features including hallway water fountains remain intact. Units feature 11–12 foot ceilings, open-concept layouts, hardwood floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, in-unit laundry, and private balconies up to 17 feet long.
